How to Prepare Your Space for a VinylPop Installation (A Quick Guide to Make Your Project Smoother, Faster, and Flawless)

Architectural film installation is fast, clean, and (mostly) disruption-free — but a little prep on your end can make a big difference. Whether we’re wrapping cabinets, walls, doors, or an entire office, getting the space ready helps us move efficiently and deliver the best possible results.

Here’s a simple, no-stress guide to preparing for your VinylPop install — and what to expect from us on installation day.

Step 1: Clear the Area

Before we arrive, we recommend removing items that might get in the way:

For cabinets or drawers:

  • Empty drawers and remove anything breakable or valuable

  • Clear off countertops if we’re wrapping base cabinets or uppers

  • If possible, open up the space around the cabinets so our installers have room to move and access all angles

    For walls:

    • Remove artwork, signage, hooks, shelves, or anything mounted

    • Take down any furniture or décor close to the wall

    • We’ll cover the floors, but a clean path makes setup faster

    For doors, trim, or panels:

    • Open up access — this may mean propping doors or unlocking private areas

    • Let your team or tenants know in advance if we’ll be entering shared spaces

Step 2: Basic Cleaning

We’ll handle all surface prep, including detailed cleaning and light sanding where needed — but it’s helpful if surfaces are free of grease, dust, or debris when we arrive.

If you’re in a commercial kitchen, bathroom, or medical space, wiping down surfaces with a mild cleaner the night before helps us start faster.

Step 3: Plan for Power & Access

Our installers use heat guns and precision tools, so we’ll need:

  • Access to at least one standard power outlet near the work area

  • A clear path to the install zones

  • Parking access if your building requires a permit or has loading restrictions

Let us know in advance if your property has special requirements — we’re happy to coordinate with building management or facility staff.

Step 4: Set Expectations with Your Team

If you run a business or shared space, a quick heads-up to your staff, tenants, or team is always appreciated.

Let them know:

  • We’ll be working quietly with tools like heat guns, utility knives, and squeegees

  • There may be some temporary barriers, ladders, or signage in place during install

  • Most installs are completed in 1–3 days depending on project size — and we do our best to work around business hours if needed

What We’ll Handle

You don’t need to worry about:

  • Sanding, priming, or painting

  • Dust barriers or air filtration

  • Permits or inspections (not required for film)

  • Sourcing materials — we bring everything

We also bring drop cloths, cleaning supplies, prep tools, and a shop vac if needed. We treat your space with the same care we’d expect in our own.

Questions? Just Ask.

If you’re unsure about how to prepare a specific area, just ask. We’d rather walk you through it than show up and have to reschedule because of access issues or a surprise obstacle.

Final Word

Architectural film installation is one of the least disruptive upgrades you can make to your space — and with a little prep on your end, we’ll get in and out quickly while delivering a flawless finish.
